We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Community Challenging Behaviours Team (CCBT) for a passionate and highly motivated individual to join us as a Support Worker.

As a key member of CCBT, you will be out in the community working with families and nursing home staff caring for people with dementia. By giving practical advice and hands-on support, our team aims to reduce the impact of these challenges on caregivers and, where possible, prevent the challenges from happening in the first place.

As part of this small and supportive team, you will work directly with clients and their carers within their own homes or within care-homes. You be involved in the process of assessment, care planning, training and education of carers and families. You will attend and give valuable input at regular reviews and debriefing sessions and will be expected to support the implementation of a variety of interventions for the treatment and management of challenging behaviours. The role will involve some aspects of lone working with support and guidance from qualified staff.

This is a part-time role, with a salary range of £11,172 – £12,684 (full time equivalent is £18,620 – £21,140).

Please note: as this role is within a CQC registered care home, we require all employees to be fully Covid-19 vaccinated with both doses unless they have a medical exemption. Evidence of vaccinations or medical exemption letter will be required.

About you

We would love to hear from you, if you possess the following:

  • Have a sound understanding of dementia plus previous experience with people who have a dementia-type illness and also present with a behaviour that challenges
  • Have a genuine desire to work with this client group
  • An effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Able and willing to regularly work without direct supervision, using your own initiative, but also work well within a team
  • Have a valid driving license and access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
  • Fully Covid-19 vaccinated with both doses unless you have a medical exemption.
